My new artistic project is a place – Nowa Szkoła, an international creative work center located in the small village of Kopice, in the border region between Poland and Germany. For two years now, together with a group of close friends, I run the Laguna Foundation, which prepares and implements the artistic program for this place.
My artistic practice was always primarily about working with people. For twenty years, I have created performances, concerts, and led workshop groups and musical ensembles. For the past five years I have also curated numerous artistic events in Poland and Germany and co-directed two festivals, one for young artists and the other based on international collaborative projects (Culture Europe, Horizon Europe).
I want to draw lessons from the collective activities I have conducted over the past few years, as well as from my experience of living between two countries/cultures and organizing international events to organize an alternative cultural space, together with all my friends. A meeting space for an international, inter-generational and interclass community.
(Currently I follow my own research program which involves visiting similar initiatives and learning from their practices. I am looking at artist-run spaces on the outskirts, outside the center, far from cities, in the provinces and villages of Europe, with a particular focus on Germany and Poland. I intend to document their methods of operation and organization, develop a map and network us for integrated collaboration.
So until May 26 you can find me roaming around Europe in my semi-kamper. If you have tips for me about places I shall visit please send me an email .)
