Themes/Questions:
–Can we gather all our anger and need of change and transform them into new energy? Abandon our defensive positions and become visionaries? Can we change anger into music with a stunning and cathartic force?
–Let’s work through tension and aggression with a cathartic visual experience. The energy invested in expressing the need for profound changes cannot be wasted.

Nikola Tesla is an excellent reference as a visionary and artist from the era when the future still held an unlimited potential. How does the Tesla coil work? Information enters the installation through optical fibre, the installation generates high-voltage electric discharges (impressive lightnings) while simultaneously operating as a powerful speaker.We believe that such a compelling and boisterous installation is ideally suited to express both the anger and the positive energy of the crowd.

The work was so far presented in collaboration with:
– volunteer participants of the workshops on working with vocal and channeling aggression into singing – their voices lay at the foundation of the installation
–the audience who was offered a microphone and a possibility to alter the sound of the installation by adding their voices: short address, singing, scream, visionary speech or sounds of destroying an object they brought.
– Two female singers who demonstrated the full potential of the installation („Duel” at CTM Festival 2018).

For the first time the instalation was used to amplify the voices of inhabitants of Biskupia Górka, an area of Gdańsk in a process of intense gentrification, where the art festival Narracje took place in 2016. Residents of the district are threatened by eviction. During our concert the postulates that they direct to the city authorities (such as: We will not be thrown out, NO to the apartment buildings!, etc.) were given a voice.

The second presentation took place in Stettin (Trafo gallery) in collaboration with the Amiri family, the refugees from Afghanistan. They agreed to come to Poland (from Germany) just for the purpose of telling their story during the concert. There is only one small refugee center in Poland, near Warsaw – and so Tesla was used to reinforce the unwanted, unwelcome and unacknowledged voices. Its power of half a million volts was furthermore enhancing our anger – the anger of Polish artists, activists and socially responsible individuals, committed to the idea of hospitality… traditional Polish hospitality.

We are still working to improve the instalation. The project involves the construction of seven monumental Tesla speakers, and placing them in the public space, as well as musical composition created for the sole purpose of this installation. Being a victim of the system, protest, demonstration, the inertia of the crowd, and as a result susceptibility to manipulation are as dangerous potential as a condensed energy in a storm. In terms of music, we want to make the most of the enormous scale of sound impact that can be achieved using Tesla speakers. We believe that such a dangerous and noisy installation is ideally suited to represent the anger or the positive energy of the crowd.

Zorka Wollny we współpracy ze Stowarzyszeniem WAGA dla lokalnej społeczności zorganizowała warsztaty pracy z głosem. Mieszkańcy mieli za zadanie wspólnie wymyślić krótkie hasła mówiące o tym, za co cenią miejsce swojego życia a co chcieliby zmienić. Performerka pracowała z nimi nad sposobem ich wyrażania. Andrzej Wasilewski skonstruował urządzenie dźwiękowe oparte na cewce Tesli – transformatorze powietrznym wytwarzającym napięcie elektryczne rzędu milionów woltów. W efekcie uczestnicy Narracji podczas pokazu mogli nie tylko usłyszeć, ale i zobaczyć głosy mieszkańców przemienione w grzmocące pioruny o mocy miliona woltów. Chór głosów krzyczał między innymi „nie dla apartamentowców” i „żądamy szacunku”.
Notes na sześć tygodni

Drugi koncert odbył się w Szczecińskiej Trafostacji Sztuki, we współpracy z rodziną Amiri – uchodźcami z Afganistanu. Rodzina Amiri przyjechała z pobliskiego Pasewalk (Niemcy), żeby opowiedzieć swoją historię polskiej publiczności, ponieważ w Szczecinie nigdy nie powstał planowany ośrodek dla uchodźców. Grająca cewka Tesli posłużyła do wzmocnienia głosów niechcianych, nieproszonych i niepytanych. Jej siła pół miliona Volt wyrażała także nasz gniew – artystów, aktywistów, ludzi wrażliwych, przywiązanych do idei gościnności… tradycyjnej polskiej gościnności.

Projekt w procesie. Docelowo zakłada zbudowanie kilku monumentalnych głośników Tesli i umieszczenie ich w przestrzeni publicznej, oraz zakomponowanie utworu muzycznego specjalnie dla tej instalacji. Pod względem muzycznym chcemy maksymalnie wykorzystać ogromna skalę uderzenia dźwięku jaką można uzyskać stosując głośniki Tesli, bierzemy pod uwagę także to, że głośniki takie są wyjątkowo niebezpieczne a ich przypadkowe uderzenie może zabić. Dlatego uważamy że tak niebezpieczna i głośna instalacja nadaje się idealnie do reprezentowania gniewu, lub pozytywnej energii, tłumu ludzi.
